Puppet Theater~No Frogs Here

Czech marionette

This weekend we brainstormed for ideas. We needed to find options to entertain our 3 year old. It was raining and we were growing restless inside the house. We read every kid's book in the house, and played many games.

Hubby and I  came up with a few options.

Me:  "An afternoon at the downtown aquarium?"
Hubby:  "A bit out of our budget for the moment."
Hubby: "How about the zoo?"
Me: "Too cold."

Then I finally remembered the magazine I  brought home from the library, Colorado Parent.  It's filled with great ideas and it's budget friendly. For example, this Friday is the National Alpaca show, free admission. Also, every Saturday morning, a free movie is sponsored for kids and parents at one of the Downtown movie theaters. And this Saturday evening, The International Youth Ballet will present Cinderella, for free!  That's an advantage of living in a bigger city, there is always something to do.

We decided to visit the Denver Puppet Theater. The first time we took Beli to a puppet show was when she was 21 months old. She was fascinated by the puppets( marionettes). The performance was about the frog prince. At the end of the show Beli wanted to know what happened to the frog. We explained he turned into a prince. She insisted but where is the frog! Too young to understand the story.

After the show, we stayed to decorate our own little puppet, which was given to us when we purchased our entrance tickets.

We also admired all the marionettes in the room.

Visited the gift shop.

And admired the beautiful courtyard.

After the puppet show we had a very interesting lunch experience at a Mexican restaurant, Casa bonita!  I know, we are suppose to be on a budget, but with the job offer, we thought we could make an exception. What do you think, puppets or marionettes? Personally, I think marionettes require more skilled manipulation in comparison to finger puppetry.
