Artwork

Have I mentioned what a talented and wonderful person my Mother-in-law is? Not only is she a terrific cook, but she also paints!

A couple of years ago she traveled to Colorado to help us take care of Beli while I returned to work full-time. Now, you can imagine the culture shock she experienced living in a foreign country where she didn't know anybody, didn't speak the language, couldn't really walk anywhere like she was accustomed to?

And so she turned to her paintings for comfort.
I hope that one day as my Croatian improves; I will be able to express myself and tell her in my own words, how grateful I was for the sacrifice she made.

I have insisted that she needs to place some her paintings at a gallery. I think they are amazing. But she is too modest and argues that it's only a hobby. What do you think she should do?

  1. Her paintings are absolutely beautiful - she could definitely sell them in a gallery! Seriously, she has some amazingg talent and sounds like a wonderful woman!

Oh, and in order to stretch your template - go into the "customize" option, and select a new layout. I chose "stretch left" (or something like that). It allows everything to be so much bigger!

  7. Jodi, that's also one of my favorites. My older sister has it displayed in her living room.
As far as my Croatian, it's coming along, I try alot of hand gestures and I'm always thanking her, for her generosity. I'm a lucky daughter-in-law!

  9. Yvonne, I'm wondering if I should sneak a few in my suitcase and show them around a few of the galleries in the States. She has talent.

I have a fab mum-in-law as well, it is lovely isn't it? I am sure that one day you will be able to tell her how much you appreciate her...

  12. Hi pepperoni person,

in my opinion your mother in law is totally right, keep it as a hobby and be proud !!!
If she does'nt need the money, its so much nicer to enjoy her talents without having to deal over a price.

I am a rather good cook, but I just do it for friends and fun, and so is my other creative part, painting, sculpting (both trained in younger years).

I also have a SUPER "m.i.l.", but lucky me, she speaks dutch, english and of course croatian.
So I did'nt have to use Google Translate to tell her it's great to be married to her daughter, but got a superbonus to the deal.

Don't wait, ask hubby how to say the words "your super" and tell her, she'll love it !!!

And as you many times raise a question, tell me if you saw snow on Mosor recently.

  13. oh i love them all! she absolutely could sell them?! or sell prints on Etsy??? lot's of painters do that. I have bought several myself... In particular I love the glittery girl on her side. How lovely and romantic and beautiful :-) Hope you're well... i haven't been around much as I'm busy painting, painting and more painting. Sadly not as interesting as your mother-in-law's work though!!! x

  15. ::))) Pim, I like my new nickname. You nailed it right on. I can see you point that if she starts selling then she may not enjoy her hobby as much, but then again she has talent.

Ti si Super. and yes I saw snow on Mosor, and today it rained all day long, still is...

  16. Babs, I'm crossing my fingers that Beli inherits the gene from Grandma because I don't have an ounce of talent in me.Nope, nothing zero. I have always wanted to play the piano. Hubby plays the guitar and sings.

But I can make some fierce salsa!:)

that photo is a semi-portrait of my sister, long black hair. I also like the glitter, gives it a nice touch.
