windows of a palace

Wouldn't it be great to live in a palace?
It's possible.
In Split, Croatia.

.
.
I'm finally getting around to ordering prints for all the photos I took when we lived overseas.
found a  great deal: 9 cent prints with free shipping.
My next debate is this, once I receive the photos do I put them in photo albums, leave them in a box, or only select a few and make a scrapbook.  there are thousands.
what are your suggestions?

  1. Those photos are beautiful! I would totally go with a scrapbook that you can put on your coffee table and enjoy each time you feel like looking at something special! Hope you're having a great week so far, darling. Kisses

PS: How is the new job? Do you enjoy it?

  2. Whatever camera you're using for these shots...I WANT ONE!!! But of course then I'd have to read the instruction manual probably....Oh well, another venture NOT gained! LOL Anyway!....I love photo albums. I have tons of them. Sometimes, when people come over, I just hand them a photo album. It has worked to keep them busy and out of my kitchen until I was done! LOL

  3. First of all, it's not the camera nor the places, it's the eye that sees and says yes.
To say it in other words, you've got the eye !!!
Before I clicked your blog to see what's new this time, I wondered "why is it Elisa writes" where it should/could be "Elisa sees".
Next change coming up perhaps ?
About those hundreds, if not thousands of pictures, have them printed all if you like, but select about ten of the very best, have them enlarged and framed, and hang them to the walls of your place to enjoy, remember and tell the story behind them.
It will be hard to select some, but once again, you've got the eye, so take some time, you'll love it !

  5. One more reaction to your palace question:
A palace (like any other place) is a place to sleep, hide from bad weather or enemies.
Today I took a day off, went swimming in both the Adriatic and the Cetina River (on a most fantastic spot I must try to picture), and tonight I am gonna sleep like a King, next to my Queen, in our Croatian Kingdom.
A palace, come on, our surroundings are like a palace, with no walls, doors or limits.
"A palace", ne hvala, ja imam jedan, i to je veliki i super.

  6. Your photos are beautiful.

I have albums and I have a box and I have an album which has my all time favourite pics. Be sure and put some in picture frames.

  7. Hi! Beautiful photos! Ordering is one thing and then organizing them is another... I organized photo albums last year before our big move, but I only have albums before my second one was born and I only have one photo album for my second child. I haven't ordered photos since my second one was one. She's already 3.5 years old. I'm a terrible mom!!!! It's been on my mind, but I'm so busy with blogging and I haven't uploaded photos. I sometimes think that I seriously need to have a stricter schedule for blogging for myself. I think my priorities are backwards! Anyways, good luck putting photos in photo albums! You're much better ordering the photos!!

  9. aww Poetess, that's too sweet of you, actually I don't own a fancy camera, it's a sony and point and shoot. I have been wanting to purchase a Nikon, but like you mentioned, reading the manual is holding me back!LOL

  10. thanks for the compliment Pim. It's going to be difficult to choose only a few photos but I really like the idea of hanging some photos in our home. I will take my time to select the 'best' ones with good stories to share.

hmmmm. I will have to think about the name, as you know me too well, this blog is always in transition, and I've been thinking about changing the main photo as well. Enjoy your palace and please do take photos of the river.

  11. Elisa, you are an amazing photographer! These are absolutely stunning - you should think about framing some of these - they're just too beautiful for words.
I'd definitely recommend putting them in an album/scrapbook. My mom literally has box upon box of photos that she just hasn't gotten around to doing anything with. And those are just old Polaroids and family Christmas/Hanukkah pictures - yours are way too gorgeous to be stored away and never seen! xox

  17. There is something special about windows and doors, especially in old buildings or even ruins. It's like you could look into another world through them - which, by the way, is how I feel looking at your beautiful photos.

A friend of mine just visited Split and recommended it to everybody. I hope I get to go there some day.

When it comes to those thousands of pictures, I have no idea what to tell you... I have ALL of my photos sealed inside my computer(s) from several years, and I'm overwhelmed by the idea of having them developed and organised into albums... But I know I'm gonna have to do it soon - I mean, what if my computer suddenly crashed and I lost all of them? It would be a disaster! :)

  18. A scrapbook sounds like a nice way to preserve the memories. I would live in this crumbling castle any day now. Warmly hope you and family are well. xxxx

  20. Hi Elisa,
as we once met in Split because of jalapeno peppers, and the great stuff you brought from the USA in return (thanks again), see: http://www.pepperseeds.eu
I guess you can order any type of pepper in the States as well, still the information is great !!!

  25. those images are lovely!! We made an iPhoto/Apple album after our big Europe trip last year. It was easy to customize the formatting, and we chose the hardcover option. It's on our coffee table, and we just love showing it to friends/family and going through it to remember all the fun times overseas. I hear Shutterfly has pretty customizable albums too.
