Lunch in Telluride

The resort town of Telluride might be the ultimate destination for many but for us, it also meant an enjoyable scenic route, through winding mountain roads.

We began our road trip during Labor Day weekend with no particular set agenda. After breakfast in Ouray, we continued driving to the town of Telluride.
We arrived in the midst of the 38th Telluride Film Festival.  It was rumored George Clooney and Tilda Swinton would be there to receive some sort of award during the festival.

We walked through the town, admiring the restored Victorian buildings.

Some of the homes were really small!

While riding the free gondola from Telluride to Mountain Village we met  film producer, Chris Kobin. He invited us to the premiere of the documentary, Hollywood Don't Surf!
Unfortunately, the showtime at 10pm was too late for us.

We had lunch, picnic style. (Look, we are both wearing pink sweaters! haha)

While we didn't see any Hollywood stars we did meet a few college students who spotted George Clooney and Jennifer Garner!

After lunch in Telluride we continued driving southwest to the town of Cortez, for our final destination Mesa Verde National Park.
You think we would be tired of all the driving, but like I said, we really enjoyed the scenic drive.

more about Mesa Verde in another post.

  2. Looks like you guys like a good scenic ride as much as hubby and I! There's so many little interesting places and things you can see along a slow route to nowhere in particular. :-) I enjoyed all the hilly photos and George Clooney too! :-)

  3. Its an unbelievable country, to large to ever see it all.
Having great memories to my two visits (Utah and Montana), thanks for bringing them back to my mind.
A tip, for folks like you and me: go to http://www.wanderingeducators.com, a website that connects peoples knowledge and experience.
(I will start writing there soon as their Croatian editor, so why don't you and Davor).
Let's get people to know what we know, starting with Croatia of course.

  5. Wow, it sounds like a fantastic trip!! How fun! The town of Telluride is adorable!! What a gorgeous town, too. I would love to go visit. It's too bad that the premier you were invited was at 10:00 pm. That would be hard with a little one unless you have someone who can watch your kid. Bummer! Love seeing your trip through photos. Great great photos!!!
