How magical is this castle? We were driving to the northern region of Croatia for a business meeting a few weeks ago when I noticed the castle in the distance. We thought that we would stop to get a closer look but we couldn't find the road leading to it plus we were on a schedule so we promised to return another day. For now, I have this photo to remind us that we must come back to learn about this castle that seems to be crumbling away.

How about this castle in Slovenia that sits on Lake Bled , jaw dropping right? Now I'm dreaming of castles.
That castle in Slovenia really is jaw dropping! I love that you can find castles along the way in Europe- they make me wonder what life was like when the castle was thriving.
ReplyDeleteBoth are so stunning but I would so love to see the one in Slovenia in person:)...Have a fantastic day, my dear
ReplyDeletePs: I am hosting a sweet GIVEAWAY later on today :) Hope you will join in :)!!!
Castles?!
ReplyDeleteOh,well in case that you didn't know, north Croatia region especially Zagorje is full of castles! Just to mention one Trakoscan.
Take a look http://www.hrphotocontest.com/index.php?menu=7&img=64746 or in Varazdin (my city) http://www.dvorci.hr/Page.aspx?pageID=887.
However Trakoscan is really good for daydreaming and for visiting with whole family.
A castle surrounded by water......seems apropos! I mean what would a castle be without a moat?! ^_^ What a beautiful setting it's in too!!
ReplyDeleteI love castles! so romantic, plenty of stories in the walls... Ohhh and look at all that green stuff as well, ah trees :D that's what they are called, and water too!!
ReplyDeleteHummm, castles! They both look like in a scene of a painting or a story book. How nice you can drive to castles like the one you passed by! The one on the island, I can't imagine how hard it was for the builders to go back and forth between the shore of the mainland and the island to transport the materials. Am I crushing the fantasy...?
ReplyDeleteOh, yes Bled is an absolute fantasy. The little island holds a church . Traditionally a groom is supposed to carry a bride up the 90 steps into the church. Karadjordjevic family had a residence there, a villa. A trip to bled for an anniversary is what I recommend!
ReplyDeleteDang. I have dreamed os castles, but I have never seen one in real life. This is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteJimy, thank you for the link. I'm really interested to visit all these castles.
ReplyDelete@Poetess, beautiful setting right?
ReplyDeleteoh Babs, are you missing nature? I can't even imagine what it would be like without trees! or seeing (green surroundings). For now we can both dream. LOL
ReplyDeleteHa Jelena I will have to ask hubby to do this, walk the 90 steps. I read about Prince Alexander and how he never wanted to do any political tasks on Tuesdays and the day that he did he was assassinated!
