Let's GO to the playground y la playa tambien

I was pleasantly surprised that it was sunny enough to go to the beach. I received an invitation to join my friend and her daughter at the playground near Znjan (a new addition thanks to the arrival of a new hotel). Our daughters, both 2 years old, get along quite well. The sea was too cold for swimming but we enjoyed a small dose of sunshine. On another subject: Tomorrow is September 16 or Diez y seis de Septiembre, Mexico's Independence Day. I'm not sure why May 5th or Cinco de Mayo is more widely celebrated in the States, because in Mexico it's rarely celebrated other than in the state of Puebla. I have one theory: it's easier to pronounce? What's your theory?

  2. Great stuff as usual, thanks for that. I have uploaded some of your posts to my site and will do more shortly. I have also started a section on Croatia for kids, as there is not much out there. Please feel free to contribute when you can and I hope you find some useful info on there too. http://www.total-croatia.com/croatia-for-kids.html cheers Paul

  3. Hey Paul, I have included your link on my blog. It's great to see the progress of your web. And what a great idea to include a section for kids I love it. And you are right, grandmas tend to look after their grandkids quite often. I enjoyed reading your list of 'things to do'. As you might have heard Carobni grad (Magical city) has been a lifesaver for parents during rainy and winter days!(Including myself!) Maybe I will add going to the library? and the park in Solin, you can feed the ducks there.

  5. I really enjoy looking at your pictures. If I hadn't come across your blog I would have never known anything about Croatia other than the war from years back. Enjoy your days and your views and the time spent with loved ones... this is a unique experience.

  6. The good thing about photographs is that we can't feel the wind blow or shiver at the feel of cold water. Looks beautiful from here! :-)

  15. I.M. you are not alone, I myself didn't know where Croatia was when I met hubby I was clueless, and I love traveling and learning about other cultures so not only are we bonding with hubby's parents and family but also discovering a beautiful country that is slowly recovering from the scars the war left.

  16. Hi E,

the list of 'things to do' was written by an expat who lived for four years in Kastela - she really tried, but she found kids activities hard to find. Please do add what you can to the site - feeding ducks and the library would be great. A little bit here, a little bit there, and we will have a great resource for all. Think I am going to kickstart the food section with some of your recipes... Cheers from a very wet Zagreb. I will be in Split briefy at the weekend and would love to meet if you are free and time allows. Cheers Paul
