Sisters

She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities.  She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway.  She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark.  She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink.
  ~Barbara Alpert

Both of my sisters birthday are in the month of October. Feliz Cumpleanos, Happy Birthday! I love you both so much.

My older sister is carrying our younger sister Lily. Yes that's me with the chicken suit! the photo was taken when we still lived in Mexico. It was a school play but since it will be Halloween soon why not post the picture. Haha!

I'm blessed to have two wonderful, beautiful and intelligent sisters. So in honor of mis  hermanas, here are a few quotes about sisterhood.

Sisters annoy, interfere, criticize.  Indulge in monumental sulks, in huffs, in snide remarks.  Borrow.  Break.  Monopolize the bathroom.  Are always underfoot.  But if catastrophe should strike, sisters are there.  Defending you against all comers.  ~Pam Brown

Sisters don't need words.  They have perfected a language of snarls and smiles and frowns and winks - expressions of shocked surprise and incredulity and disbelief.  Sniffs and snorts and gasps and sighs - that can undermine any tale you're telling.  ~Pam Brown

My older sister is going to New York City next week to celebrate her birthday. Wish I wasn't so far away or I would join her. Love you Sis, have fun shopping!

Take me to New York.

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.  ~Author unknown.

  1. I wrote a poem about sisters. You just reminded me that I should probably read it again. Aren't sisters annoying....and great companions.....and maddening....and the best ever?!! :-))

  4. How so sweet! I love reading about your sisters! I have three younger sisters and all three of them have birthdays next month in November! Two of them are twins. I had so much fun growing up with my sisters, I am very happy that I could provide the same sisterhood to my girls. If we ever have a third child and if the third one is a girl, I would be delighted although we would be very happy with a bogy as well. It's very true that your sisters are always there for you when you need them. I hope your sister will have a fun time in New York City!

  6. Ulrike,

growing up we weren't that close, i think it was something about competing for our parents attention? but now we are very close I think (Motherhood) made that bond stronger.

My older sister is 22 months older than me and I'm five years older than my younger sister. Sometimes I wonder about the age difference and how it affects the bond between siblings.

  7. My sis is 8 years older than me. I remember one night after she had left home for uni, I sleep-walked up the stairs at home and was apparently banging on the door to the attic and was crying when my mum woke me up cause I thought my sister wouldn't let me in. I miss my sis :) xx

  15. Babs, I think we all annoy our siblings, its part of the sisterhood plan. hehe

Krystal, yeap, I loved that last one as well, so true of my older sister. If I say I like one of her blouses, she has no problems giving it to me!
