The town of Trogir, about 25 km from Split was our destination for a day trip.
So many things to photograph: doors, windows, staircases, every corner I turned was full of treasures. Some staircases appear abandoned, others beautifully adorned.
which is your favorite?

What a great-looking city. Thanks for the photos!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite has to be the first one - I love nothing better than sneaking a look in people's courtyards!
Impossible to choose a staircase, as Trogir is my favourite nr. 1.
ReplyDeleteFar more intimate than Split, and a delight to have a quiet walk.
Even it's riva/boulevard is a superspot, far better than the "airport" called Riva in Split that used to be perfect before some idiots "redesigned" it.
In Trogir (especially on fridaynights in the touristseason) the Riva is just fantastic to sit down and have a drink (or two).
I love almost all of them! I'd love to talk to the people who live at the top of each staircase too! :-)
ReplyDeleteoh my these are all amazing! i feel like i could lost there for days! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky to live so close to all these places! I love the stairs and the designs above the arches.
ReplyDeleteUlrike that's the feeling I got when I was walking around town, peeking into people's courtyards. I couldn't peel my eyes away!!
ReplyDelete@Poetess, at times I felt someone was going to open their doors and tell me to step away from their home! LOL I mean I was literally on their doorstep!
ReplyDeletePim. that's it!the town is small and cozy. and the riva is more 'kid' friendly than the one in Split! It also helped there weren't many people around so we had the town to ourselves!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, you could get lost through the narrow streets, but it's a good feeling of being lost. many things to see!
ReplyDeleteTee, I just love to see the carvings on archways and above windows, and buildings. Wish I could capture every single one...I'm trying....
ReplyDeleteOh, I love them all!! What amazing pictures, I really want to visit!
ReplyDeleteIf I was pressed to choose, I'd have to pick #5.
Come visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place..I could walk around there for hours:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday morning,sweetie
your pictures are gorgeous. i just read your about me page. do your parents still live in iowa? i live in iowa. it is always so exciting to hear about other people in iowa. it is funny, because iowa has an ever increasing spanish speaking population, and we also have a growing croatian community. it is so neat to live in a country where there are so many more cultures moving in. it is especially amazing that a lot of these different cultures find iowa to be a nice place to live.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I LOVE this kind of thing. I love wandering through old towns (especially in Europe) and peering through archways, courtyards, old alleys. These photos are just beautiful - something about the 3rd and 2nd to last ones I adore :)
ReplyDeleteHope your new week is off to a great start!
How funny, last night I had a dream that I was in a place full of cobble stones. These pictures feel familiar. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe red door os my favorite. I love red.
Sarah. yes my parents and sisters still live in Iowa.Des Moines comes to mind as far as an increasing hispanic population but Iowa city as well due to the University. which area are you from?
ReplyDeleteJude, thank you. yes, so far so good.
ReplyDeleteyour photos are wonderfully atmospheric. LOVELY !
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! When I look at those dwellings I'm reminded of what a young country I live in. I cannot pick a favorite. They are all so beautifully photographed and enticing. I'd like to meet those who dwell within!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
@Ballet News,
ReplyDeletethank you, Cheryl that's very kind of you.
Damaris that's a small coincidence, about your dream. glad you enjoyed the photos.
ReplyDeletelovely pictures! I have a thing for doors. Everytime I vacation I come back with hundreds of photos of doors. I think London has the best doors so far. :]
ReplyDeletesoy de cedar rapids. pero vive en una pequena ciudad (which shall remain nameless for privacy purposes) que esta cerca de 30 minutos de cedar rapids o iowa city.
ReplyDeleteall of them are my favorite ;) they remind me a lot of an old movie that I love: The House of the Spirits. thx!
ReplyDeleteHouse09 that's based on Isabel Allende's book right?
ReplyDeleteOh I love 4, 5, and 6!
ReplyDeleteLove the rustic appeal, especially with those arches!
Very nice city to begin with! The city looks very nice, I must say I have a thing with old towns. They are a bit mysterious and every town has its own story. Love the stairs! Just recently I had a business install floating staircases in my house. The result was great! Awesome post, thank you!
