Thoughts of a 30-something woman

How do you cope with all your roles, but still maintain a sense of individuality? The question came up when my sister returned from her NYC trip where she celebrated her 35th birthday with best friend Nando. I invite you to stop by and visit her blog. She has thought provoking questions that every Mother, every Woman, every Person, asks one time or another.

To answer her question: I'm a 33- year old, Mother of one, Wife of one, Sister of two, the Middle-daughter. So where does that leave ME? Well, I definitely want my daughter to know me not only as her mother but also as a passionate woman, someone who followed her dreams, pursed her ambitions of becoming a Pharmacist despite the obstacles encountered along the way. More importantly I want to be known as a person who is fearless of new challenges and has no regrets.
.....Skydiving, ( would do it a second time, in a heartbeat),
.....Snorkeling in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (challenging as I'm not a swimmer, but I did it),
.....Photography (working on it),
.....Traveling (does living in a new country, Croatia, with hubby and daughter count?)
..... Learning about Motherhood (a continuous lesson).
I won't deny there are struggles, feelings of ineptitude, but all in all, I'm happy. Yes, I could be doing more. But doesn't everybody want more?

And like my sister, I too leave you with this question, "what are you doing to follow your passion?”

  1. Of course living in Croatia counts as travel!!!

My passion (at the moment) is writing. The first thing I did to follow that passion was start my blog. Then I found someone to pay me to write stuff. OK, I don't get to choose what I write about, but I do get to choose how I string my words... that counts, right? :)

  3. Amanda, thank you, hubby here doesn't think it's an adventure rather a change of lifestyle. Maybe for him, since he is back to his native country. I'm glad to hear you are following your passion. I would be interested in reading about your other writing projects, and of course it does count!

  4. Hey babs, two of the things I listed above I did prior to having my baby. I would love it if you write a post about this, my big sister will be happy to hear about it.
THe white and black picture was when my hubby was a baby and his Mom. I love everything about it.Trust. Adventure. Embrace. Love.

  5. Hello! I was sifting through some of my old posts and realized you had stumbled upon my "little corner!" :) So sorry it has taken me so long to respond...I didn't see your comment 'hiding' there! I love that you asked about passions in your post. I think that is still something I am trying to discover/pursue, etc. Thank you so much for stopping by! You are welcome anytime! Keep writing and I'll keep reading!

  7. Holly, thanks for commenting. I think women as whole sometimes find it difficult to "pursue their happiness". At least you have began that journey!

  14. I had quite a bit of time recently to think about myself. And what I want to do with my life besides being a mum. Not an easy question to answer. Great post!

  17. Tienes razon si tenemos mucho en comun. Solo tenemos hermanas. No hermanos.

  18. I asked Evan the other day "How long do you think that you and Kyle will be brothers?" He said that he wasn't sure. I explained that Sam and I are still sisters (even though we have our own families now) and that we would be sisters forvever and he would be brothers forever with Kyle. He asked me if Sam and I grew up in the same house. Yes I said. And we also owned our own house together after I graduated from college. Seemed to confuse him even more. He does love having a brother and a best friend for life, just as I love having a sister and a best friend for life. So.....when is Belli getting a sibling? Just asking..
