I photographed these koalas when I was completing an internship in Australia. That was 5 years ago! I don't know what got me thinking about this trip. Maybe it's was the beauty I found all around me. Join me as I go down memory lane? We will visit Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania and Fiji. Have a beautiful weekend, Beli and I heading out to the beach, another hot day today. The Great Ocean Road.
Back home in Iowa, Christmas 2004.
Great photographs. I admire your courage to go out and really experience the world. Just the move to Croatia reveals a woman of strength and determination. Godspeed.
ReplyDeleteI.M. thank you. I will admit that after returning from Australia I really wanted to continue exploring and broadening my horizons. There is so00 much to be discovered. Other cultures, food, languages.
ReplyDeleteooooh that baby kangaroo is precious!! :)
ReplyDeleteyour life is just full of adventures! awesome pics.
ReplyDeletethat was fun! and what beauty! pretty amazing. p.s. thank you for your kind comment today:)
ReplyDeleteThat was a trip down memory lane for me too! I spent 14 months in Australia over 20 years ago, working some, traveling lots. I went from Cairns to Tasmania, and into Adelaide and Coober Pedy. I had two girlfriends and my Mom come and join me at various points along the way to travel with me. I lived in Sydney for a short while at Manley Beach. The egg nest sculpture is new - I love it!
ReplyDeleteI also stopped in Fiji on my way home. Unfortunately, my timing was a bit off. We were hit by a hurricane while I was there, so my experience was a little unusual.
Thanks for the trip back Down Under!
Carolynn
I want your life in Croatia. It is amazing! That beach photograph is stunning. We are coming to Europe next year and Croatia is on the list!

oh my! I loved your memory lane. such incredible shots! Fiji? you're so lucky :) how amazing that you've been to so many wonderful places... Beli looking her cutest as usual!
ReplyDeleteThe koalas and kangaroos are very cute! How was skydiving? I really want to do it but I have to find the right place and some guts before I do that.
ReplyDeleteJodi, yes it a treat to get to hold a wallaby.
ReplyDeleteJen, thanks!
ReplyDeleteJane, muchas gracias!
Carolynn, I'm glad you also enjoyed the trip down under. It's hard to say I had a favorite city because each one had something special, Adelaide had the small city charm, Melbourne mixed the old with the new, Sydney, much to do and see, Hobart, the history! and Fiji well it's quite the place to step away from 'city life'.
ReplyDeletethais, Beli is getting used to the idea of wearing ponytails, only when we are going out though.
ReplyDeleteMarcie, Really, You would love Croatia, You know you will have to stop by at a cafe and say hi right??
ReplyDeleteTee, I agree the koalas were so 'huggable' but boy they have sharp claws ( I was also able to hold one, but couldn't find that picture) I will stop by and tell you about my skydiving experience. It was fun and scary and Yes i would do it again.
